Cooperation agreement with Wageningen University & Research

17.11.22

On November 14, 2022, a strategic long-term cooperation agreement in the field of animal sciences was signed at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in The Hague (the Netherlands) between the leading scientific unit in the field of natural and agricultural sciences in Europe, Wageningen University & Research and 3 Polish scientific units:

- Institute of Genetics and Animal Biotechnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences,

- Poznań University of Life Sciences,

- National Veterinary Research Institute – State Research Institute in Pulawy.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Warsaw.

IGAB PAS was represented by: Professor Agnieszka Wierzbicka PhD DSc, Professor Jarosław Horbańczuk PhD DSc, Cyprian Tomasik PhD and Irene Camerlink PhD DSc.

The current Agreement is a confirmation of the extension and tightening of cooperation between the indicated units established under the Agreement signed in 2015 at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Warsaw. This cooperation has so far contributed to the implementation of many joint research and development projects and the exchange of staff between units from Poland and the Netherlands.

The evolution of the global context and social expectations in both countries, as well as the dynamics of relations between agricultural sciences in Poland and the Netherlands, create very favorable conditions for tightening cooperation between the above-mentioned scientific units that have similar long-term goals and mission of their own activities.

The purpose of the Agreement is to continue and further strengthen the cooperation between the parties and to encourage joint activities in the following areas:

1. Mobility in the form of exchange of professional experience between scientists from each side;

2. Joint preparation of applications for co-financing of national and EU research projects;

3. Other types of cooperation, including oriented cooperation on research projects funded by industry or under public-private partnerships.
