(Polish “adiunkt”) in the animal science, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related discipline

 

based on the (Legal basis: Section 91(5) of the Act on the Polish Academy of Sciences of 30 April 2010 (Dz.U. (Journal of Laws) No.96, item 619) and Act on the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Dz.U. (Journal of Laws), item 1668, the Statute of the IGiHZ PAN, and the Regulations of Competition Procedure in Employment for Scientific Position in the Institute of Genetics and Animal Biotechnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences of 2 March 2020.

The Institute of Genetics and Animal Biotechnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences has the HR Excellence in Research logo awarded by the European Commission to institutions which implement rules of the "European Charter for Researchers" and the "Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers".

 

The Institute of Genetics and Animal Biotechnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences  (IGAB PAS)  in  Jastrzębiec n/Warsaw is seeking for scientists with expertise and hands-on experience in animal science, molecular biology, biotechnology or a related discipline.

 

As a Researcher in the IGAB PAS, you will: 

  1. Be responsible for the planning and experimental design of all research activities associated with your project role.
  2. Effectively communicate your conclusions and recommendations to the team, utilize literature and patent searches, as well as connecting with your colleagues to learn new skills and/or seek collaborators to meet project needs.
  3. Contribute to the pipeline of new ideas, gain understanding of the overall project strategy and how your deliverables contribute to our project goals.
  4. Exemplify the IGAB PAS values, including scientific integrity and teamwork.

Requirements:

  1. PhD degree in either: animal science, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related discipline.
  2. Proven experience in laboratory work including:

- in vitro cultures of mammalian cells

- practical knowledge of molecular biology techniques: qPCR, RNA seq, Western Blotting, 3C assay, ChIP assay, EMSA, CRISPR, siRNA, use of reporter genes,

- working knowledge of the FACS technique and immunofluorescence staining

- ability to work with a confocal microscope

- knowledge of statistical analysis methods

- experience in working with laboratory animals (mice, rats) will be an additional advantage

  1. Knowledge in the field of biotechnology supported by publications from the JCR list - number of publications proportional to the period after obtaining the doctoral degree (minimum 3 papers if 1 year or less has elapsed since obtaining the doctoral degree). The candidate's achievements will be assessed by the Scientific Staff Development Committee
  2. Fluent written and spoken English.
  3. Work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  4. Demonstrate a very good ability to work in a team.

As an Assistant Researcher in the IGAB PAS, you will: 

  1. A review and compilation of the literature on issues related to nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics;
  2. Preparation of scientific publications and presentations at national and international conferences;
  3. Making spectrophotometric analysis, immunoassays, enzymatic and using mass spectroscopy, too;
  4. Supervision of the technical efficiency of laboratory equipment

Requirements:

  1. Master's degree or equivalent in: biotechnology, chemistry or a related discipline.
  2. A minimum of 3 months of proven experience in laboratory work.
  3. Scientific achievements are desirable, e.g. in the form of conference abstracts or original scientific papers.
  4. Fluent written and spoken English.
  5. Work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  6. Demonstrate a very good ability to work in a team.
